Jam Kitchens are supporting Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale in raising funds to support Lonely and Vulnerable Older people within our Local Community

All of the team at Jam Kitchens are passionate about the work that Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale provide. They offer practical help and advice and people who care about the challenges faced by older people. This vital work would not be possible without the tremendous support that they receive from volunteers, supporters, fundraisers as well as donations. This is why Jam Kitchens are pledging to help support this essential work in the local community by raising as much awareness and funds as we can to ensure any local older person in need can access their help.

We are proud to say that in 2022 we raised over £2,500 for Age Connects by donating a proportion of our profits, and abseiling down the iconic St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff Bay.

Jam Kitchens – supporting the work of local charity, Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale

Imagine spending days alone without seeing another human being and only the television for company. Sadly, for too many vulnerable older people in our local communities this is the reality. For many housebound older people their weekly Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale volunteer may be the only person they see to talk to and spend time with.

For almost 50 years, local charity Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale has been helping and supporting local older people and their families through some of the most difficult times in their lives. They are committed to tackling loneliness, isolation and poverty amongst older people and strive to create a society in which older people are respected, valued and heard.

They help in so many ways:

  • Support when making difficult choices, such as moving into a care home
  • Ensuring correct benefit entitlements are claimed
  • Advocates assisting to resolve issues
  • Help with shopping and transport to appointments
  • Access to their befriending scheme
  • Encouraging participation in groups and activities to reduce social isolation
  • Nail cutting service
  • Leap Energy Surveys
